I was lucky to see Peter Allen Perform a couple of times. He died so young from AIDS and was a brilliant songwriter.

I never gave the song he wrote "I Honestly Love You" much thought, other then I love Olivia Newton-John's music, but the information here that I found kind of puts everything into play and seems in a way these words he wrote were from his relationships of marriage and cheating and still caring for that person anyway.
